Our Philosophy
Through the centuries, the family Jouffreau worked the Clos de Gamot ‘s vineyard, wines and lived through the seasons of the Lot.
Allow time for the wine to flourish, watching and listening to nature to work the vines at the right time, these are the fundamentals of a winemaker.
The farmer good sense, often maligned, remains an essential element in our family.
Our wines reflect our family wineries: wines of character with lots of freshness and a fabulous ability to maintain and to improve over time.
The Jouffreau signature passes from generation to generation: the ability to raise authentic wines from an exceptional terroir.
Highlighting the fruit, silky tannins and freshness allows our wines to be kept a long time.
We prefer using friendly methods for our wine, we avoid all methods of “over” extraction or “extreme” concentration.
That is why we decided to work, and has been for decades, with big wooden barrels, not new oak barrels in order not to change the potential of our grapes.
